Fishing Boxes
A box is a box, but a fishing box is not just another box, it is the chest that every
angler treasures; this is where the hopes and dreams of the next fishing experience reside.
Fishing Boxes - Something A Fisherman Must
Have
They say variety is the spice of life - well, when you consider fishing
boxes, variety is the spice of life.
You can find so many alternatives and sorts of boxes and containers that make excellent
fishing boxes, that for some anglers it becomes a question not only of using them as a practical fishing
box, but as a collectors item.
For the serious angler his fishing box is an item that deserves special attention. This in
turn means that you need to find the box that meets the specific requirements of your preferred fishing style. You
need to find the box that was made specifically as a fishing box and not just any old container that you have on
hand. After all fishing is a way of life for the serious angler - it is not just something to fill up your time.
This means that little by little you will be building up your equipment and a fishing box is an essential part of
it.
Another thing that you have to be aware of is that it takes a different tackle box to keep
your flies from the one that holds your lures or the swivels, or hooks, and so on.
Fishing boxes:
- Fishing boxes come in different sizes, but should fit on your
person.
- Are made from different materials- which could be plastic, metal (aluminum) or
wood.
- Colors are also optional (though very bright colors should be avoided in
principal).
- You should be able to open them easily (imagine you are in the middle of a river and
need to change flies) and at the same time the lid should close down tightly.
- They should have internal divisions so you can store and sort your
tackle.
There probably isn't a fisherman that has just the one box. These handy implements are a
basic necessity for a fisherman which usually means he will be buying, begging, borrowing or stealing other boxes
for years. And then one day it could be that maturity sets in and the old faithful box will be a constant partner.
And then you find it was his father's favorite fishing box.
You will always have more than one fishing box - it is just in our fisherman's
nature. On the practical side you have to be organized. Keep your flies together and sorted according to
type and size. If you use lures or spinners, the same criteria applies. Your fishing boxes are handy
items and they serve not only to carry but so that you can change or replace a fly, a spinner, a lure or even bait
when and as you need it. If you are not organized this will only end up in frustration.
And a frustrated fisherman will not catch many fish. Organizing your fishing
boxes will help you increase your catch.
